- Recent developments: Since our successful second symposium, we have been working on many of the action items discussed. We are proud to report that we have completed a solid business & marketing plan and submitted a grant proposal in December. We are on track to make a big push toward marketing Maine's midcoast region as a unique art destination and to tell the entire world about it! We created this website to offer a place for visitors to learn more about our vibrant art community and for our members to exchange ideas and resources.

Art Coast Maine Announces Membership Opportunities for artists and arts organizations in the Midcoast
Local artists and arts organizations have pulled together to market Midcoast Maine as a significant arts destination. The name of this new lightly-held organization is Art Coast Maine, and it is now seeking members ( YOU CAN SIGN UP HERE).
The creative economy is the fastest growing sector in Maine, and the arts are an important component of the creative economy. Art Coast Maine is spreading the word about the cultural assets that exist in this treasured space on the map.
With an energetic steering committee, the group has launched a website and has already held several successful networking events this winter. It is now is the process of putting together the definitive calendar of arts and cultural events in the region.
 We are using the networks of our members to generate and place editorial, articles in the media that reach targeted audiences. Presentations to the hospitality industry in Maine as well as to the area’s realtors are in the works. Co-operative advertising in addition to this website, is also being looked at. Concerted advocacy initiatives with government agencies, on behalf of the arts in Maine is high on the agenda.
Membership in the organization includes a descriptive listing on ArtCoastMaine.com, posting of events and openings on the Art Coast Maine calendar, and invitations to frequent gatherings of like-minded individuals. Members will be linked to a broad spectrum of cultural institutions, art-related businesses and individual artists and craftsmen through the website forum and will be part of the ongoing dialogue shaping the future of the Art Coast.
Membership is open to those individuals artists as well as arts and cultural organizations in the broader Midcoast region. Annual membership is $25 for individuals and $100 for organizations.
